Chatham Belgian Blues, owned by JM Morrison and Son, is operated on the family farm along-side Mullaghduff Pedigree Herefords and a commercial suckler cow herd. Jack and his wife Anne have always had a keen interest in showing cattle and preparing bulls for sale.

Jack, seen here with Tony Blair, has a lifetime experience of breeding beef cattle and established the herd of pedigree Herefords after purchasing the farm around 1960. Having gained much experience in the breeding and sale of Herefords, Jack went on to experiment with Belgian Blues and the family finally established Chatham Belgian Blues in 1987. Initially A.I. was used on some of the Hereford and commercial cows, embryos were purchased and eventually a few females, which were bred to A.I. bulls and their embryos implanted.

The progeny from this formed the nucleus of the Chatham Herd, which now consists of strong maternal cows.
Emphasis is put on structural soundness, growth potential, length and depth of body, natural thickness and overall performance with white and blue roan as the preferred colour marking. This criterion is believed essential to produce top quality bulls and females for sale to pedigree and commercial cattlemen.
